Gumnut Hut, is a gorgeous rustic studio cottage with massive windows looking straight into the rainforest. You can't get much closer to nature than this! Gumnut is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the forest. Often used as a solo artist's retreat or a romantic couples getaway, Gumnut is the most secluded and rustic of Wangat's cottages, with a path straight from the patio, down to the river edge. However, it's no 5 star hotel. It has a basic bush camp style kitchen, a steaming hot outside shower, and an outside toilet. It's said the best sunrise's are seen from that loo, as it looks straight out to the valley in the east. So if you're like us and prefer the simple things in life, you'll love Gumnut. Wake up under the white lace canopy, and open the huge French doors, letting the morning sun in. Eat breakfast with the birds. Wander down to the beautiful Chichester River for a refreshing swim in the numerous deep pools. In the evening you have a choice of an outdoor fire pit right at the patio edge, or an indoor fire heater. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend.

Melia Cottage is a mudbrick cottage that sleeps one to five guests. The cottage has one queen-sized bed and one single bed, an open living/dining area with two sofa beds, a cooking bench, a fridge with a freezer and microwave. There is also a private barbecue and fire pit. Blankets, doonas and pillows are included, but guests are asked to bring their own sheets, pillowcases, towels and toiletries. As Wangat is a Wildlife Refuge, domestic pets are not allowed.

The larger of Wangat's two self-contained bush cottages, Clancy Cottage accommodates up to seven people; perfect for a family stay or a small group of friends. Enjoy short walks through their sub-tropical rainforest to the banks of the stunning Chichester River or venture further afield with a guided bush walk. Cool off in the Summer with a dip in one of the spectacular river swimming holes or warm up around the bonfire in the cooler months. Plus meet the wildlife - from the wallabies and cheeky possums to the abundant birds and frogs - they're all waiting to welcome you to Wangat!
